Today

Markus Renner is Co-Owner and Managing Partner of Branding-Institute AG in Basel since 2008, consulting companies, institutions, associations, sports (clubs) and individuals in every topic around building, protecting and restoring their good reputation as well as building, strengthening and revitalizing their brands. He also regularly advises clients in strategic communications, marketing and rankings management.

Concurrent to his consultancy work, Markus is Professor in “Branding and Reputation Management” at the Basel School of Business (Switzerland) as well as lecturer for “Stakeholder-guided Brand and Reputation Management” at the Universities of Applied Sciences in Lucerne and Winterthur (both Switzerland). From 2014 until 2017 he was Visiting Professor at the Henley Business School (England) in “Marketing and Reputation Management”. Markus is also Co-Founder and Co-Chairman of the International Brand & Reputation Community (INBREC). INBREC is the international network of senior managers from globally renown corporations and associations who regularly meet to exchange their experience and expertise in brand and reputation management among peers.

Markus is frequent keynote speaker at many public and in-company seminars and conferences around the world.

 

Before

Twelve years (1996 – 2007) senior positions within major global corporations, e.g. as Head of Global Brand & Reputation Management at Novartis AG, Basel/Switzerland and Head of External Communications at Bayer AG Leverkusen/Germany.

 

Education

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in business psychology, conferred by the University of Basel (Switzerland). His book “Generating Trust via Corporate Reputation” was published in 2011.
  • Master of Arts (M.A.) in Political Science and English at Universities of Cologne/Germany and Reading/UK.
  • Certified degree: “Journalism and Corporate Public Relations”, Institute of German Economy, Cologne / Germany.

 

Language skills

Markus is fluent in German and English, with basic understanding of French.
